Paving the Future of Health Benefits: Key Takeaways from AIM 2025

Written by Marc Bryant, SVP, Healthcare Solutions

At the recent AIM 2025 Premier ICHRA Conference, hosted by Remodel Health in Indianapolis, I was struck by the sense of community and shared purpose among the technology vendors, brokers, health plans, and administrators gathered there. We believe in the potential of Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements (ICHRAs) to bring flexibility and control to employers and employees. Being surrounded by like-minded individuals who genuinely want to help others succeed was refreshing and inspiring.

Remodel Health, a leader in the ICHRA space, deserves a special shout-out for hosting an incredible event. As administrators, they are dedicated to supporting benefit advisors who work hard to provide their clients with the best benefits possible. By bringing together industry stakeholders in a safe and collaborative space, they fostered a sense of community and shared purpose among attendees. From my perspective, the event was nearly flawless, and I appreciate the effort they put into creating an environment where we could share our experiences and learn from each other.

The conference provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of health benefits. During our session, Kevin Deutsch, GM & SVP, and I presented on the transformative power of technology in this space and the importance of being mindful about technology, it’s role and the processes involved in navigating the complexities of ICHRA. Some key takeaways from our session include:

  • The surging adoption of ICHRA, with a projected 255% increase by 2025, and the importance of technology in supporting ICHRA adoption and administration.
  • 54% of respondents are already using technology to support their business, and 19% identify as innovators.
  • Among those using ICHRA technology, 16% fully trust it, 30% think it works but has room for improvement, and 5% don’t trust it but have no other options.
  • There is still a need for education and awareness about ICHRA, with only 16% of respondents reporting being fully confident in their understanding of ICHRA.

As a technology provider, we understand the technology challenges that go beyond integration chaos, vendor overload, and operational inefficiencies. To overcome challenges, it’s essential to find processes, solutions, and partners that can provide seamless user experiences, streamlined payment processing and reporting, and scalable solutions that support businesses as they grow. When evaluating partners, look beyond product features and consider their experience and expertise, commitment to innovation, and quality support.

The pending “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” was a recurring topic of discussion throughout the conference. If the bill passes, it will accelerate ICHRA adoption and rebrand ICHRA as the Custom Health Option and Individual Care Expense (CHOICE) Arrangement. As the industry continues to evolve, we’ll likely see even more changes, but it’s clear that ICHRA is here to stay.

The event closed with an inspiring keynote from Josh Sundquist, who emphasized the importance of perseverance and resilience in the face of challenges. His catchphrase “one more thing, one more time,” is a reminder that growth and success often require pushing through difficult phases.

As we look to the future of health benefits, ICHRA will play a significant role, and events like AIM will continue to shape the conversation and drive innovation. With the right technology and partners, organizations can thrive in the ICHRA era and deliver exceptional experiences for employees.
